Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Fishing on Lake Ontario has slowed as the lake season wraps up.
There are still fish being taken right around the piers and break wall early in the morning and early evening.
Meat rigs, J-plugs and large flasher-fly combinations are your best lures at those times.
There are still some fresher fish being taken in the 100 foot of depth range for those who still have boats in the water.
This is the time of year when the tributaries really come alive and provide some great action.
Johnson Creek is providing Salmon action all the way up to the dam at Lyndonville as well as Northern pike and Carp.
On the Oak it seems to be an abundance of a broad variety of fish.
Salmon are all the way up to the dam along with some Steelhead and Brown Trout.
There is plenty of good action at the point and at the bridges area for Salmon and Northern pike.
Gar pike are being taken in the lower reaches of the Oak along with some Perch that are starting in from the lake.
Of course the Smallmouth bass and pan fish are plentiful all along the lower portion of the Oak.
On the Erie Canal good catches of Smallmouth bass and Walleye along with moderate catches of Crappie are being reported.
Lake Alice still seems to be the hotspot for Bluegills and the stretch of the Oak between Lake Alice and Glenwood Lake is still producing good numbers of Smallmouth bass.
No matter what fresh water fish you would like to target, you can find it all in Orleans County.
Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
