Huntington is HOT

Capt. Robin G Calitri
June 24, 2009
Long Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Captain Robin Calitri of LongIslandFlyFishing.com has been contemplating trading in his beautiful Scout center console for an ARK! The rain has kept the fisherman in but the fish are numerous in the Huntington-Northport area. Die hards Don Vogel and Joel Weiss were out on Csicagain on Monday evening. The fishing was limited to the inside of Northport Bay in the lee of the Northeast winds. Don was up 3-0 with nice schoolie bass. Suddenly, the wind died and a bright orange sun began to set and bass and blues erupted. Joel caught up and the two anglers scored on small blues and bass for a couple of hours. They used poppers, swim baits and rattle traps. The fish are on sand eels so a teaser guarantees more action.

Captain Robin was tired of watching others catch so he sailed solo on Tuesday afternoon. The small bass and blues cooperated inside Huntington Bay on olive over white clousers. The bigger fish were up off Eatons Neck and responded well to pink and chartreuse. These were 8-10 pound bass and the Robin had a ball with his 6 and 7 weight fly rods. Marc McCord and his daughter found nice size bass and blues off Caumsett on Wednesday. How can you not get out for this action? Robin has a few open dates at LongIslandFlyFishing.com.
