Fishing Report for New York - Long Island North Shore

Capt. Robin G Calitri
September 17, 2004
Long Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Montauk Blitzes from now to Thanksgiving by Captain Robin Calitri

MONTAUK! Let me attempt to describe today (9/17/04) at Montauk Point, New York. I picked up famous painter Jime Delgrosso at his home in East Hampton at around noon. We launched at Montauk and almost right outside the inlet we found fish. Blues mostly but some Albies mixed in. We gave up on them and headed to the Point where we found Albies breaking all over. We caught a few and then found Jim of Centerport who had been towed out to sea by an Albie in a Kayak. We put him and the Yak on my boat a took him close to shore. Just after we dropped him the water turned tan with keeper bass blitzing bait close to shore. Jim hooked up on a keeper. We had hit after hit but most were nice blues. The whole crew of charter guides were there. Brendan McCarthy had a 12 year old who was fly casting about as well as any one out there. Jason DApra was doing what he does best. Finding his own pods of fish for his clients. David Blinkin had his client active, on fish. Luck Liz(sorry for getting too close to you) had her boat in the midst of the action. It was mayhem with the boats, fish and surfcasters all in a frenzy. So, why wouldn’t you come to Montauk and get into this great madness on the guide boat using fly or light tackle. Captain Robin Calitri
