Long Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Today we had the Kevin Basham party out. We headed out of Moriches for a Shark trip to the 25 fathom fingers s/w of Moriches. we had a tight 4-5' chop going out so it slowed us down a bit. we finally arrived at my spot and set out the chum. no action at all for 3 hours. then I see a fin pop up at the far float. The Shark swims up the chum line and takes the 30' bait. The rod bends in half. i try to set the hook. the fish is off. I check the bait it's intact. i send it right back out and it gets nailed again. i give it 5 seconds and set the hook. The battle was on. Kevin had a blast bringing in a feisty 125 lb. mako. action was slow so he decided to take the fish for the BBQ. water temp 67 clear water.
P.S. we have openings this week and next if you're interested in joining us.
Tight lines!
