Long Island - Saltwater Fishing Report
We had the mike carbone Charter out for a Shark trip. We left the dock at 0530. We had the winds from the N/E at 5-10 kts. so the ride heading out was ok cruising at 30 kts. we got to my spot in 25 fathoms and set up our slick and put out 3 rods. the deep bait was set at 75' the mid rod was at 50' and the short rod was set at 25'. and we had a throw rod set up in case a shark came up the slick to the boat. we were immidiately covered up with bluefish hitting all our rods.we had to constantly change baits. we used the lighter rods to fish for blues to get fresh baits on the hooks. we had a nice knockdown that cris battled in the now 6' seas wind kicked up to 15-20 kts from the n/e.it turned out to be a 100 lb. brown shark. we took pics and quickly released it. the blues became even thicker swimming thru the slick. plenty of fresh mako bait in the area but mr. mako stayed away today.
we had great action with blues. kept a few for the bbq and a few for our next shark trip. we had folling seas heading back and ran home at 25 kts.
P.S. We have openings for inshore and offshore trips this month and next.
tight lines!
