Tough Tuesday

Capt. Robin Calitri
July 30, 2010
Long Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Captain Robin Calitri had regulars Joel Weiss and James Pascarella scheluled for a Tuesday evening trip on the Sound. The Captain decided to spend a few hours alone searching for fish for the evening. Csicagain checked out spots from Huntington to Glen Cove, finding only small blues. Next was the OB and 13. Finally each area inside Northport Bay was hit to no avail. It looked like Joel and James were in for a lean evening. After picking up Joel and James stops alone the Eastern shore of Huntington Bay yieled one small blue for James, 11 B was the next stop. One large fish hit a jig but came off. Captain Robin was desperate. Heading east towards Crab Meadow blues started to erupt in shallow water. They took flies, surface lures and tins. Soon bass to 23 inches grabbed on. Final tally for Joel and James was about 120 blues and 10 bass.

Long Island Fishing Forecast:

Cooler weather, tons of bait should mean Bonito, big blues and bass active on the Sound.
