Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

The salmon season is now in full swing and the salmon river received a good run of fish today and yesterday. The Douglaston Salmon Run reported a few good days this week with fish moving well early but slow going once the sun gets up. The Staircase, Town Pool and Ball Park area is fishing well with anglers reporting a mix of kings and cohos.
If you like fishing up river the Sportsman Pool, Ellis Cove and Schoolhouse Pool area all have fish in them.
On the Oswego River, most of the activity continues to be up river. Egg sacs, skein, wooly buggers, egg pattern flies, rubber eggs and floating stickbaits are working well. Anglers are finding a few steelhead and browns mixed in among the salmon with roe, egg sacs and worms being the baits of choice.
I have been in vampire mode myself and the last four nights at the river mouth have been nothing less than spectacular. Last night was too easy. I big pod of bright clean fish moved in and pounded on them.
Glow evileye spoons trolled 50 to 70 feet back with a few splitshot to keep them down is doing the job.
We are also having good luck fishing skein cured with Pautzke egg cure. Try this cure, you will love it!!
Kenny & Chuck with another limit of kings.
Even though we need rain bad, just look at the beautiful conditions we have been fishng. What a sunset!!
Pat O'Sullivan and his Dad Joe who came all the way from Ireland to catch the largest fish they have ever seen. The bite was on and after they got dialed in it was an easy limit!!
Rich Winter & Marcus made short work of them last night.
The new issue of Lake Ontario Outdoors is on the shelves. If you can't find a copy where you are let us know and we will esend you one.
I know the webcam has been up and down everyday. Remote camera's are a nightmare to keep going and we are doing our best.
