New York Fishing Report for Lake Ontario and Salmon River

Capt. Troy Creasy
October 28, 2007
Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

Thw 2007 salmon run is winding down but some of the best fishing of the year is about to start. The area streams and rivers all still have salmon in them, but as November approaches our thoughts now turn to steelhead and brown trout. All the water we are getting will most assuredly bring in plenty of trout and when things settle down and the leaves clear, look out. It will be hot.

We struggled through the weekend with wind and leaves but managed a few nice fish. Overall the weelkend was slow on the big rivers, but some of the smaller streams fished good.

Fritz finished up his trip with plenty of fish. The last day we has a welcome rain, but he kept after them.

Barry was one of the lucky guys that landed a nice king when six of his friends joined. Capt. tom burk and Andy bliss on a two day excursion. Most of the guys were new to this type of fishing, but we worked hard and found a few.

Steve Shapiro came from Bradenton Florida for his annual fall outing. He took this big boar on his fly rod and custom tied fly.

Chuck landed a nice steelhead on day two, but I took a lousy photo, as it was pouring.

On Oneida lake, The yellow perch bite has been very good . Buoy 121 & Dutchman's Island is producing some walleye as well. The Nitro Minnow, Jr. Thunder Sticks and the Rapala Husky Jerk are all working. Smallmouth bass are taking silver shiners on the shoals.

Our salmon river web cam is up again and hopefully running. Go to our website and follow the links.
