New York Fishing Report for Lake Ontario and Salmon River

Capt. Troy Creasy
September 24, 2002
Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

We Need Rain!

Well it is that time of the year again. The salmon are making thier way to the spawning grounds. Big numbers of kings, cohos and trout have entered the salmon river, but they were hit real hard over the weekend. We need rain guys, plain and simple. we are in big trouble without it. There are plenty of fish to come. Lake fishing is still Red Hot. But there is no water. They will trickle up as Mother Nature tells them to go. But we need rain for any good run to materialize.

The lake continues to produce great catches, but you have to be in the right place at the right time. ou

The best tip is to start real early. Some days we have 3 to 6 fish in the first hour. Boats are coming out at first light and the bite is all but over. Then they say fishing is slow. The right palce at the right time. Fall is all but booked, but I still have some days for steelhead in late November and December. Good Luck, Troy
