New York Fishing Report for Lake Ontario and Salmon River

Capt. Troy Creasy
November 10, 2002
Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

I have just returned from fishing our western basin streams in Niagara and Orleans County. I have been away for over two weeks, so that is why I haven't updated my site.

Another year of no water, but the browns are still getting upstream to the gravel.

The Oak has a good flow thanks to the agreement that was made to draw canal water and put it all into the Oak. The bad news is that it takes water away from other area streams. Guess we can't have everything.

The fishing was real good with browns up to 15 pounds and a few rainbows up to 12. Real good fishing. I will have photos up in a few days of some of the catches. The real good news is that we only killed a total of 15 fish with over 300 released for another day. Thanks guys.

This tremendous fishing will continue through the month and I will be back and forth and everywhere in between over the next month in search of Trophy Trout.

The salmon river still has good numbers of salmon and a few steelhead. The best trout fishing has been in the estuary.

I'll keep you posted God Luck. Troy.
