Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

Happy Holidays
The recent thaw has opened all the area streams and some are loaded with fresh run steelhead.
Major Doug Martin and Major Paul Vezzek from Fort Drum spent the day with me in the Oswego Harbor. The river is huge, almost 11,000cfs, but we hung tough in the seam off the center wall and managed to go 5 for 6 on some nice drop back brown trout. The high winds made the day even more interesting as the south wind drove us down river, there was a west wind on the lake, bringing six to eight foot rollers into the harbor and up the river. Figure that one out.
I guess nobody wants to fish this time of year, because I don't see anybody out there. There are a few people on the big river and some guides working, but this place is empty. The Sandys have fish. The big salmon is fishing good every few days. The Oswego is choked full of browns and nobody is here to catch them. The weather isn't that bad, and the fish have been pretty cooperative. Give us a call. We have plenty of days open right through the holidays.
