New York Fishing Report for Lake Ontario and Salmon River

Capt. Troy Creasy
March 27, 2003
Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

The Fish are Here!!!!!!!!!!

The Salmon and Oswego are completely blown out. Hopefully things will settle down soon and I can get back in the boat.

The good news is that the small streams are Red Hot. The Sandy's are still high and muddy, but every other "Ditch" flowing into Lake O is choked with spawning trout.

I walked 7 tribs today and I saw fish in every one. To be honest, I don't really like fishing to them in the tiniest ditches, the brush is brutal. I now own another three piece as yet another rod tip went into the trees, but if that is the only option, you have to go for it.

We crawled on our hands and knees, and snuck up on them from above, We floated big nightcrawlers and minnows down into there spawning areas and most fish immediately attacked the baits! Especially the large pike minnows. They must think it is raiding their nests to get the eggs. At any rate I quit counting the number of fish I saw today. I will be back on the tribs in the am doing battle with more chrome.

Go Get Um!

Troy
