Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

Well, the Hotspot over the holiday weekend had to be area of the bouts at nine mile point. There was a lot of boats but a lot of fish as well. The bite was early so getting therte before dawn makes all the diference.
The best baits are a black silver white belly smithwick, fished on the surface about 150 feet behind the boat and raider spoons in black and silver, fished 3 to 12 feet down off of the downriggers.
The salmon fishing continues to be fair with spoons and dodgers/ flies working the best. Things should start seting back up this week, as more favorable windfs are in the forecast.
The walleye and pike fishing on Sandy pond is very good. Fish with large shiners, spoons, stickbaits & spinnerbaits. Work the weedlines and the dropoffs.
Drifting worms under a bobber at Wright's Landing and along the east wall in the Oswego Harbor is producing yellow perch, rock bass and sunfish. The walleye fishing there has been slow most nights.
Wow it is June already and that means that the season opener for bass is less than three weeks away. I will have some great tips on where to go as opening day draws near.
Now is the time to schedule a lake charter. The fishing is excellent and area charter captains are available for lake charters. Take the kids fishing, it will be a quality experience that they will not forget.
