Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

The salmon river is still running at 1000 cfs, but today the water came back up a lot as the streams are again on the rise from local rain and snow-melt. Brian Mulkeen Sr and Jr spent Friday and Saturday with me and we had two great days. Friday we went to the Oswego Harbor and beat up on a handful of brown trout. The water was real high and muddy, but the trout were biting, especially in the afternoon when it warmed up. Saturday was crazy on the salmon river with more driftboats then I have seen since last salmon season. We go all month with 5 or 6 boats a day, then today there had to 30 to 40. Honest. We got lucky and held back as the floatilla raced for the ramp. We went a solid 3 for 3, with Brian Jr. doing all the damage. Blus sacs were the hot ticket, but now the water is colored, so things will change. Eveyone says that there aren't many fish in the river, but I can tell you that the hatchery is choked with trout and they will be dropping over the next 4 to 6 weeks. We are in store for a red hot April. I still have April 3,4, 8 and 9 open. I should keep a day off, but it's steelhead season. High Adventure Sportfishing is currently taking reservations for Spring, Summer and Fall, Lake and River charters. Relieve some stress and spend the day on the water with family and friends.
