New York Fishing Report for Lake Ontario and Salmon River

Capt. Troy Creasy
May 2, 2006
Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

My 2006 Spring River season is a Wrap!!

By: Troy Creasy

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I pulled the pin on my last couple river trips as the lake is on fire and I gave my guys the option and they took it.

There are still plenty of steelhead in the river and we had a great day on Friday but a slower one on Saturday. Lot's of anglers, low water, bright, and I mean sunburn bright sun. Not a good mixture for spooky trout.

Anyway, I wrapped it up with some great guys that have fished with me for over 18 years. Steve flew in from Florida and Gary drove up from Pa. Between some good stories, a few hot fish, along with some killer prime rib, great wine and scotch it was a weekend to remember.

Steve with one of several he landed on a cold sunny morning.

Today's Report

Tom Burke and I had a trip together on the river but as I mentioned my guys opted for the lake. Great move as we were rewarded with a mix of kings and coho's up to 20.5 pounds!!

The guys wanted to start at six, which was fine, but we missed a great brown trout bite that shuts off once the sun hits the water.

Tip: If you want browns, have all your lines in the water before daybreak!!

Found the salmon in 130 to 160 FOW. Green e-chips and Spin Dr's with green Atomic and G-Flies did the job. We also hit a few on spoons as well.

20 pound plus kings in April! I am impressed!!

15 pounds of chrome. guess what we are all are having for dinner tonight?

Thats the story folks. The lake is loaded. what are you waiting for?

Open days in May for browns. 11, 12, 15, 18, 22, 23, 24, 25, 30 31.

Open days in May for Walleye 15, 17, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 30 31.

So many want days for the Fall of 2006, but here is all I have left. First come first serve.

September- 21, 22

October- Is Full, Call for referral guides

November - 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29, 30.

See you out there, Troy
