Salmon River Fishing Report 12/12/10

Capt. Troy Creasy
December 12, 2010
Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

Winter has been rearing its ugly head as a good shot of cold air & heavy snow hit us over the last week. Now freezing rain high winds along with more lake effect snow is in the forecast.
In spite of that all area streams are open and a mix of dark &dime bright fish are scattered from top to bottom on the Salmon River.
The river is running around 750 cfs which is great water and with the rain and warm temps today I doubt it will go down too soon.
Try pink, chartreuse and blue egg sacs and work the pools from top to bottom.
The fish are on the move so don't be afraid to move around.
On the Oswego River flows are over 15,000 cfs and the only fishable spots are right on the edges, near the dam, the kiddie pool, lock 7 and the harbor
White bucktail jigs along with pink and chartreuse egg sacs under floats are producing some nice steelhead and a plenty of browns.
Please use extreme caution when fishing the river as flows are very high.

I had a brutal day last Friday (you have to be humbled once in awhile) but since then it has been game on. Big numbers and Big fish!

Oneida lake walleye fishing is still good with most of the fish coming from the eastern end of the lake ion areas that still have open water.

There is still plenty of good fishing open water fishing and pressure is very light. Don't put that rod away yet. I am sure it won't be long and we will also have some good ice fishing reports.

We have Gift Certificates ready to mail if you are still looking for a gift for that special someone!

Remember to stay safe out there, be respectful of others and put a few back for another day.
This is Captain Troy Creasy Merry Christmas.

Target Species:

steelhead & brown trout
