SeaVee Boats - Catch More Fish

Salmon River Lake Ontario Fishing Report

Capt. Troy Creasy

Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

Just another fantastic few days of fishing on the salmon river as steelhead are speeding back to the cold waters of Lake O. We are now finding 95% of our fish in the fat turbid oxygenated water that they love so much, once the water temps soar into the mid 50s. It will not be long and things will be winding down, but what a ride it has been. Steelhead fishing like most have never seen. We are so lucky here in upstate NY to have this tremendous fishery.
If you want steelhead, just fish the fast water. They are there, eggs, worms, big flies, jigs, spinners plugs, it doesn't matter they are dropbacks and they have to eat.
As our gears begin to change from the whitewater rivers to the big river, to the depths of the big lake and the walleye rich waters of Oneida Lake I still can not believe the fishing we are having. Despite hard east winds the brown trout bite is very good. The first few days of the LOC Derby, www.locderby.com we are seeing good size kings entered from the Western Basin and browns and lake trout from the southern shore. All is good and will only get better on the open water if you can believe it. Come up and experience it for yourself.
A few pics from the last couple of days.

Bob & Jody Ellis showed up at the rigfht time, as we were well into double figures by mid morning.
They are now spoiled!

Russ and Richard were on their annual spring trip. Russ banged a few on egg patterns and my big Bunny leech and Richard hit a few on eggs. It was a cold morning and the bite wasn't great, but we had fun as always.

Fred nd his son Ken had a tough trip the lst time, but today would different, as we went into double figures by 9 am and the action never slowed. By noon we had caught more than enough and wrapped it up. One of the best days of the season!!

Many more photos to come as I yet another week on the river.
I will be on the lake later this week and down on Oneida as well.
Stay tuned.
Looking to fish? Walleye or trout. I have May 18, 20, 21, 22, 27, 29.
