Cape Fear River - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fall fishing season has started here in the Cape Fear River, speckle trout are biting on the east bank of the river,on the rock wall just south of Fort Fisher. The area where the water flows from the back bay area into the Cape Fear River, has been hot!
Live finger mullet on carolina rigs,or jig heads with 3" to 4' flourescent green grub tails will put fish in the cooler.
Large blue fish are biting on the islands in the Cape Fear river,I caught several fish in the 10 lb. size range on Thursday of this week, rapala X-wrap plug is one of my favorite plugs for casting to the grass lines along the river.
Large flounders are biting on the inshore wrecks, drifting finger mullet on carolina rigs, covers alot more bottom area than just anchoring in just one spot.
