Carolina Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

The Inshore/nearshorefishing has been good so far this year and can only get better as summer is fast approaching. There are currently Virgina Mullet in the river and seem to be biting very good and will leave yuo with a smile and a great dinner. The Speckeled trout are still around and are eagerly awaiting to bite live shrimp if you can find them. Bonito are showing up off of the cape and provide quite a fight on light tackle. If you can keep up with the spped demon, the reward is a great eating. Their cousin, The false Albacore, should also be with them, and although they are not good to eat, they also provide one of the hardest fights you can get inshore. The drum are around but seem to be docile and picky. Bluefish are the hot ticket and can be caught everywhere on jigs, spoons, and bait and are sure to give you a great fight and eating them will be good as well.
