Outer Banks - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fall fishing on the Outer Banks is starting to come together. A few Striped Bass are starting to show up in the sound. I've had good and bad reports, but not tried it myself yet. The same goes for the trout and puppy drum. The trout have been plentiful, but just under the legal size limit. There are still plenty of Bluefish around the inlet and nice schools of baitfish also. A few miles off the beach, King mackerel are starting to bite good. On a trip I had Saturday, we boated 9 and lost several more, plus a bonus 31lb Blackfin tuna. The wrecks have plenty of Sea Bass, but most are on the small side. Offshore, the Yellowfin tuna bite has been on the slow side , but should improve with cooler weather along with the Blackfins. Down off of Hatteras, I heard the Wahoo are pretty thick so days, and most are very big. Fall Striped Bass season is just around the corner, and bookings are going quick. I think we are due the a good season.
Tight lines, Ray
