It's Fall, It's Biting Wrightsville and Carolina Beaches

Capt. Richard Bennett

Wrightsville Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hi Folks,
Once again I would like to remind/inform everyone of my new website, www.rod-man.com, and my new email address, [email protected]. All the information you need about the Rod-Man doings are now available on one site and the new email will put you in touch with me. Thank you.
What would you like to catch? That is a summary of this week's fishing report. Virtually everything is biting! Now here's my report:
INSHORE: Reds, flounder and trout are biting, although the trout bite will improve as it gets cooler. Reds are mostly EVERYWHERE. They are biting artificials and bait, live or dead. Flounder are staring at the inlets, Snow's Cut and the River. Live bait and paddle tail artificials are the baits of choice. Trout are mostly in the river right now but will be cruising the sounds very soon.
NEAR SHORE: Big Spanish macks are biting in 30-40 feet of water along the beach. Clarkspoons on #1 planers with 30' of leader and Bird rigs with 6' of leader are producing the most and biggest fish. Two pound fish are common! Some false albacore and bluefish have shown up as well.
OFFSHORE: Kings and big Spanish are biting slow trolled live and dead bait. You can catch nice grouper, grunts and sea bass (you cannot keep the sea bass per current regulations).
GULFSTREAM: The main attraction in the stream right now is the wahooooooooooo! Blackfin tuna are plentiful as well.
UPCOMING: It only gets better from here. Look for a great trout season. The flounder and redfish bite should peak this month and remain strong into November for the flounder and December or until it gets too cold for the reds. It's time to go fishing. Remember the Rod-Man is now a complete fishing service with ON YOUR BOAT GUIDED TRIPS, FULL SERVICE CHARTER BOOKING AND CUSTOM FISHING RODS AND REPAIRS. Until next time…LET'S GO FISHING!!!
