Fall Fishing Begins in SE NC

Wrightsville Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hi Folks,
I hope we have had all the bad weather we are going to have for a good while. The temps have cooled nicely and the fish are responding very nicely. Now here's my report.
INSHORE: Inshore anglers are catching reds, flounder and trout. Some are using live bait, some are using artificials. The high tide falling seems to be working best.
NEAR SHORE:Some very nice Spanish are being caught mostly on clarkspoons on #1 planers. Fish up to 5 pounds are being reported. Bluefish are mixed in as well.
OFFSHORE: Its still a bit choppy but boats getting out are catching kings in good numbers. Live bait is working best, but cigars and ballyhoo will work too.
GULF STREAM: No reports due to rough seas. I do know the wahoo bite has been very good when boats could get out.
CAPE FEAR RIVER: Good catches of reds, flounder and trout. Whiting are biting in the south river.
UPCOMING: More and more. Cool temps and calm seas will make everything bite better. This is our time of the year!
Until Next Time...LET'S GO FISHING!!!
