Wrightsville Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hi Folks,
It is wonderful to report a couple of real good fishing days. Two days ago we caught several nice blues, two nice Spanish mackerel (must have been lost, lonely and hungry) and a real nice 23" red drum. All the fish were caught jigging with spoons and spinning gear. A couple of days before that we caught 11 flounder and one red. all on 1/4 oz. jig heads and Gulp bait fish. Water temps have dropped to 67-68 and will be going down more this weekend. Now here's my report:
INSHORE: Flounder, reds and trout are biting. There is still a good number of finger mullet around but artificials will get the job done as well. It seems the best bite is on a falling tide, but we did catch some fish on the rising as well.
NEAR SHORE: Lots of nice blues are around the inlets and on the beach. False albacore are plentiful as well. And, I guess you have to say there are still a few Spanish mackerel in the area as well.
OFFSHORE: There is a good king mackerel bite in the 10 to 25 mile areas. Plenty of false albacore are around as well.
GULFSTREAM: There is a very good wahoo bite with some blackfin tuna as well.
UPCOMING: More and more good fishing. The good trout bite should get only better. Same goes for the reds for a while. The flounder bite will be strong for hopefully two more weeks or so. While the blues will be around for a while the Spanish macks will soon be gone. Please check out my photo gallery at www.rod-man.com Whether you are an inshore fisherman or like to go after the kings and other big boys, it is happening NOW!
Until Next Time...LET'S GO FISHING!!!
