Wrightsville Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Inshore Fishing is Heating UP
Hi Folks,
The past week has seen some unusual and volatile weather for this time of year. In most cases however, when we have been able to fish, we have been successful. Water temperatures are finally reaching "normal" ranges. After the blow coming this Friday and the water settles down, look for fishing to just get better and better.
Here's my report for the week May15-21:
Inshore: You flounder lovers will be glad to know that flounder fishing is in full swing. We caught fish as big as 5.2 pounds this week. Carolina rigs with live menhaden got the job done. Also big drum have shown up. Largest landed this week a beautiful 29 incher after a great fight. We photoed him and released him. Black drum are still in the area too.
Nearshore: Spanish mackerel have been tossed around by the high seas, but are still in the area. Bluefish and a few bonito are mixed in with the spanish.
Offshore: King mackerel are biting well from 4 miles to 25 miles out. Live menhaden, cigar minnows and ballyhoo will do the trick.
Gulfstream: Boats getting out have caught wahoo, yellowfin tuna, some blackfin and some mahi.
Let's Go Fishing
