Wrightsville Beach to Cape Fear River

Wrightsville Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Peroiod Ending October 28, 2004

Report for the Period Ending October 28, 2004:

Hi Folks,

Sorry my report is a little late this week...been fishing. Fall fishing is in full swing. Most everything is biting (not everyday...that's why they call it fishing instead of catching), but for the most part, you can find some good fish everyday. With the moderate weather we are experiencing, we could have a long fall season...well into December.

Now here's my report:

Inshore: We are catching trout, flounder, red and black drum, sheepshead and blue fish. The best fishing is around the inlets, marsh banks along the cuts and creeks, and the ICW. We are catching fish on live bait (menhaden or mullet), fresh shrimp, and artificials. One new bait, the Berkley Gulp is proving to be one fantastic curly tail grub. I have caught trout and flounder and bluefish on this realistic smelling bait. Get some.

Near shore: Gray trout and flounder are still biting on the near shore reefs. Near shore action on king mackerel is still a happening thing too. A few small pods of false albacore have shown up and that should increase almost daily.

Offshore: King mackerel are biting from the beach out with best catches closer in, say within 10 miles. artificials, live or dead bait will do. Don't forget your downrigger.

Gulfstream: Plenty of wahoo are around. Mahi and tuna are biting as well.

Registration for my fishing school March 5, 2005 is going well. If you are interested, let me know as soon as possible, because once the room is full there will be no more. Hope to see a lot of you there.

Don't miss this week's pic of the week: www.rodmancharters.com

It's the best time of the year, get out on the water.

Let's Go Fishing!!!
