Wrightsville Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Rod-Man Report
Rod-Man Report June 27, 2006:
Hi Folks,
I know I have been a while between reports and I will try to do better. The truth is the fishing has been pretty good and I have been very busy. The recent rains and low pressure system have put a damper on things a bit, but that is summer weather.
Now here's my report:
Inshore: Flounder fishing has been good as has been red fishing. Live bait for flounder and live or cut bait for reds fished on a carolina rig will "get 'er done".
Near shore: Spanish mackerel have "returned" and platter to doormat flounder are biting at the nearshore reefs. Spade fish have shown up at the near shore reefs and can be caught using "jelly ball" strips as bait.
Offshore: Kings are biting well in the 10-25 miles areas and the mahi are mixed in with them. Live bait, ballyhoo and cigar minnows will catch'em.
Gulfstream: I have received numerous reports of outstanding mahi fishing in the stream.
Summer is in full swing now, but that also means fall is not too far away...when big everything will be available for your hooks.
