Hi folks,
I know it seems like I just don't do as many reports as I use to and there is a good reason. I am fishing more and more and just am finding it hard to get the reports out. I WILL try to do better.
Fishing is very good right now. Inshore, nearshore and offshore fishing are providing many different species to catch. From flounder to mahi, the fish are biting.
Now here is my report:
Inshore: Flounder are biting in the inlets and the river on live bait, either small menhaden or finger mullet. Flounder are being caught from the surf using GULP SW. Reds are providing good action at the inlets, in the waterway and in the creeks. Menhaden or mullet, dead, whole, or chunk will catch fish.
Nearshore: There have been several good catches of flounder on live bait at the near shore reefs. Spanish mackerel have provided plenty of action on most days. Bird rigs have worked very well on calmer days. Barracuda and sharks of varying species have been plentiful as well.
Offshore: Kings have been biting well from 3 to 25 miles out. Mahi are still biting in the 15 to 25 mile areas with the 23 mile rock being very good right now. Cobia are still around the offshore reefs and look out for the reef donkeys, AKA, amberjack.
Gulfstream: With only a few reports coming in it appears the main attraction is mahi. Some wahoo and billfish are also providing action.
It's late August which means great fall fishing is just around the corner. I am anticipating an outstanding speckled trout season as well as the usual flounder and drum runs and the near shore big kings. Make your plans early to get out and try for your favorite.
