Wrightsville Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report
Rod-Man Report October 4, 2006
Rod-Man Report October 4, 2006:
Hi Folks,
Cooler weather is bringing hotter fishing. Nice flounder, reds, trout, spanish, kings, wahoo...you name it and it is probably biting.
Now here's my report:
Inshore: Some very nice flounder are being caught on the incoming tide in the inlets. Best bait is finger mullet fished on a carolina rig. Reds are biting in the inlets, the creeks and the waterway on a falling tide. Best baits are finger mullet and menhaden. Specks are showing up in the inlets and are being caught on live bait and jig heads with GULP SW.
Near Shore: Gray trout are biting mullet at the near shore reefs. Flounder and large drum are to be found as well. Albacore are already making spot arrivals and should be in full swing soon. Spanish are still biting, but the bite is slowing down. Bluefish are biting jigs and trolled spoons.
Offshore: Kings have made a strong appearance at the ten mile areas as well as inshore in the 4 to 5 mile areas. Live bait or dead, slow trolled seems to be best.
Gulfstream: The wahoo are biting well. Blackfin tuna are also being caught.
Each year when I announce my fishing school, I am amazed at the interest and response. It seems two schools, Raleigh Feb. 10, 2007 and Wilmington March 3, 2007 is popular. Don't miss out on this year's best of the best fishing schools. For details, please visit http://www.rodmancharters.com
Don't miss this week's pic of the week. The angler was on a boat for the first time. Visit at http://www.rodmancharters.com
Fall fishing is under way. Don't miss out on the action. Make your plans to get on the water.
Let's Go Fishing!!!
