The Trout Bite is Strong at Wrightsville Beach NC

Wrightsville Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hi Folks,
Inshore fishing is very hot and should continue for some time. Trout, reds and flounder are biting well. Offshore fishing is producing king mackerel and the Gulfstream still has a strong bite of wahoo. Now here's my report:
INSHORE: Speckled trout are providing plenty of hot action in this cooler time of the year. The fish are bigger and more plentiful. While lots of folks like to use live bait (shrimp), I prefer artificials for trout fishing. Give me a medium lite rod, a ¼ oz. jig head and a favorite soft bait and I can fish all day. Don't forget a good scent to apply to your favorite plastic. They all work well. Red rum and some flounder are biting as well.
NEAR SHORE: Bluefish, bonito, false albacore and some grey trout make up the nearshore action. Add in an occasional king mack and there is plenty to enjoy near the beach. Your favorite jig will catch everything but the kings, and a live bait or a drone spoon will catch them. Small bluefish make an excellent live bait.
OFFSHORE: Some good king mack action is to be had in the 20-40 mile ranges. Fast trolling with ballyhoo or slow trolling with live bait will produce great results. It's Frying Pan Tower time when the kings bunch up at the old big structure.
GULFSTREAM: The wahoo bite is still strong. Blackfin tuna and a few YELLOWFIN TUNA are being caught as well.
UPCOMING: Look for the inshore bite to be strong and stronger until the weather turns the water too cold. Trout will continue to be the big bite now. For the false albacore fans look for that bite to be strong for the nest few weeks.
As a reminder, my new website at www.rod-man.com is fully operational. The old sites are still there but will be turned off very soon, so please visit the new site and bookmark us for future reference.
Until next time…LET'S GO FISHING!!!
