Wrightsville Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hi Folks,
Prior to this weekend's rain and wind event, the trout bite had been pretty awesome. Give it a couple of days and the bite should be as good or better. Now here's my report:
Inshore: This is where the fishing is happening right now. From the Cape Fear River to the inlets and all points in between, the trout bite has been very good. Redfish are around and hungry and a few flounder are still hanging in the cooler waters of late fall. Your favorite artificials will be very productive. Just to name a few, you might try these tried and true inshore baits: D.O.A. shrimp, paddle tails and split tails; Mirrolures (your choice, but I like the old favorites); and some kind of scent to remove the plastic smell. Bang, Gulp spray, Procure and more will get the job done.
Near Shore: Bluefish are plentiful on the high tide. False albies were hitting prior to this weekend's weather and hopefully as things settle they will again.
Offshore: Kings have been biting well from 10 miles to 40 miles out. Again, we need things to settle down to see how the rest of the season will play out. Hopefully the bite will re-group.
Gulfstream: It's been a good while since any boats have made it to the stream. No reports at this time.
Upcoming: The Rod-Man finally disconnected his 2002 computer and replaced it with a new Dell with the bells and whistles. If only it would type for me. Honestly, I did not know a computer could be so fast. That's enough of that. I am gearing up for the winter boat shows in Raleigh, Greensboro and Richmond. I will be working with my good friends at Island Tackle and hope everyone will come by and say hey. We will have some great deals and merchandise available. Be sure to check out my new website and the photos at www.rod-man.com.
Until next time...LET'S GO FISHING!!!
