New and exciting changes for the Deschutes River
It's a new year and with the new year comes change. The new and exciting thing in our neck of the woods, is as of January 1st of this year the entire lower Deschutes is now open to fishing year-around. So for those of you who want to get a jump on the season (or just want to see what it's like to have the entire river all to yourself) you don't have to wait till late April to start fishing the Lower Deschutes.
Owyhee Skwallas and Deschutes Salmon Fly
If you enjoy fishing big dry flies for trout, we've got a couple great options for you. The first option starts on the Owyhee River (a little stream in far eastern Oregon). In just over a month until about the end of April we will be fishing for big brown trout with skwallas. The Skwalla hatch on the Owyhee is on our first major hatch and probably one of our most exciting hatches of the season. The Owyhee River is know for being Oregon's best brown trout fishery. This is a perfect hatch to start off your 2016 trout season.
Option 2 is the Salmon fly hatch on the world famous Deschutes River. This hatch typically starts around the middle of May and goes through the first week or so of June. This is the time of year where you will see rainbow trout do some crazy things to get a big snack floating on the surface.
Days are limited for both the skwalla and salmon fly hatches so call today to one up your trip.
