Winter Steelhead Season Has Begun

Capt. Cory Godell
December 10, 2015
Bend - Freshwater Fishing Report

Our first day of winter steelhead season started off with a bang. We hit two steelhead and farmed a third in just over 2/3 of a day fishing. The next day our luck wasn't as good and the fish were playing hard to get. Thats the way it can be for winter steelheading on a fly. The good news is we know there are fish around and the ones that are here are shiny and ready for battle.

On Monday a big rain storm hit our area and the Sandy went from 3500 cfs to over 25000 cfs in a matter of 16 hours. But the river level is coming down fast (12,300 cfs as of Tuesday night) and with the freezing level dropping the Sandy should be back into shape before we know it. With this big spike in the river level it should bring in the next wave fish into the Sandy.
