Boca Chica - Saltwater Fishing Report

Because nobody in the U.S.A., our biggest angling market, has any idea whatsoever what is in store for them in the next few days, things here in Panama, and over in Costa Rica(Playa Zancudo) will continue on the same course. LOTS of FISH, but very few FISHERMEN.
Some recent cooling rains have helped the surface temps. a lot, but we still have our best luck on a downrigger set at 60 -80 ft. Live bonitos and blue runners at those depths don't have a very rosy outlook for a long life.
We're also using planers and release clips to fish feathers and plastics down at those depths with great success.
Marlin , in both locales, seem to be down in numbers a bit, but sailfish have returned, or risen(?) and there are plenty of these great fish around.
DORADO remain constant, so the grill never really gets a chance to cool off much.
In Costa Rica, sailfish rule right now.
Also, small yellowfin TUNA are around and biting. We've had great luck on the mix of tuna and sails from Punta Banco (Pavones) all the way to the "high spot" off Punta Burica.
It's been very hot, so not many anglers are opting for inshore fishing, deciding that the sea breeze is a little better when trolling offshore.
