Boca Chica - Saltwater Fishing Report

Due to a lack of anglers this past 4 months, we are now faced with the problem of having TOO MANY FISH out here!
Blue marlin, some very good ones hovering around 8-900 lbs. have been taken recently. Average size has been 350 -450lbs. Capt. Peter La Fleche had one released unharmed that he swore was the biggest he´d ever SEEN, let alone caught. He´s landed a lot of 500 pounders over his 15 years here, and he said this one was as close to 900 lbs. if it was an ounce. Actually, his lifemate(and boat mate)Annie fought the big mama for five and a half hours before Pete got the leader.
As of yesterday, all boats that are going out are reporting at least one marlin strike, with 3 and 4 not uncommom.
SAILFISH are ¨like rice on the water¨according to most captains. We´ve been having some hard, cooling rains the last ten days or so, and the surface temp. has dropped a couple of points, hence the increased billfish bite.
Dorado ,many in the 40 lb. class, are taken daily. 2-3 seems to be the average.
We had some good action on ROOSTERFISH and CUBERA SNAPPER off Punta Burica the last two days
with 7 taken. One, a 52 lb.er, taken on live blue runner and a 37 lb. cubera landed after smashing a yo-zuri surface popper.
Outside Isla Ladrones, we had all the yellowfin in the 10-20 class that we wanted. Two rapala´s close off the stern and two cedar plugs off the riggers had us all dancin´!
Weather remains excellent and seas 1-3 ft.
Good Fishing, Wherever You Are !!
