Boca Chica - Saltwater Fishing Report

We had a chance to try Isla Ladrones the other day. Was planning a trip to Montuosa, but weather that way looked ¨iffy¨.
Began with feather rigs for bonitos. Had a triple right off the bat. Rigged two, had them on the riggers in no time. Number 3 was rigged, and the leader was hung off a midship cleat for back-up. Lots of bait. We thought a marlin wouldn´t be far off.
Passed over ¨Bajo Ocho¨number, and the long rigger took off. DOWN. But, blacks do that, so we were ready for anything. Nice bend in the stick, reel singing, other bait cleared and hung on the other side.
Five minutes later, line starts coming up, then down again. 20 minutes later, up she comes again. This time towards the boat. Waiting for a big black to attack the stern, when a VERY wide tail slaps the surface 50 yards astern. Copper-color. SNAPPER !!
Five minutes more against that 2-spd.80, and we had a gaff in her.
Sixty-six pounds!!
We kept after the marlin, but a threatening squall helped us make the decision to head for the dock.
Tuna , marlin , a FEW sails all being taken at Montuosa, The Bank, Secas Islands.
Have to get an update from friend Manuel Zambrano out of Pedasi. Hard to find, that guy.
Aug./ Sept. marlin bite already shaping up. Both here and off Playa Zancudo, Costa Rica.
We´ll keep offering our ¨Fish 5 days, get 6th day FREE¨special until November 30.
Also, WAHOO are on the WAY !!
Good Fishing, WHEREVER You Are !! Capn Bob
