Boca Chica - Saltwater Fishing Report

There is no better place to be than offshore Panama right now. Unless you are offshore Golfito, Costa Rica. Our boats are doing VERY well in both locales.
Sailfish are the hottest ticket to the show. It's time too get here ASAP with your fly gear, as we've been raising up to 40 sails a day ,
with fly anglers getting 5 to 10 releases a day, depending on skill levels.
Blue Marlin-- At least one or more big mama up in the spread daily. One boat had 4 up last Wednesday. Hooked two, released two. Both between 350 and 400 lbs. Mold Craft Wide Range , blue/white, and Chaos turbo in pink/white.
If you get a couple of bonitos or small tunas(feathers), bridle them up with circle hooks and idle speed troll them around the bait or tuna school.
YELLOW FIN TUNA-- Thanks to the government of Costa Rica breaking the back of that killer tuna boat, TIUNA, caught with nets down inside the legal limit out at Cocos Island by Mar Viva patrol boat, those rapers haven't been around so the yellow fin are in much greater numbers. Anywhere from footballs to Tankers pushing 300 lbs.
One of my fly anglers had all he wanted the other day when he cast his fly at my Mold Craft squid teaser rig as what seemed like a hundred tuna were chewing the tentacles off the little purple lures. He was fast to a beauty of a tuna in about three seconds, and 40 minutes later had a 45 lb. beauty flopping on the deck.
DORADO-- Plenty of nice dorado to add to the fun, and the grill.
We had a 62 pounder kill a bonito bait we were trolling for marlin two weeks ago. Until we saw the fish, we THOUGHT IT WAS a marlin !
Inshore-- Plenty of snapper and roosterfish, but we've been taking advantage of the offshore bite, so we've not targeted the inshore stuff lately.
Anyway, the fish are ALL here and the weather is fantastic. Hope to see you here soon.
Good Fishing, WHEREVER You Are !! Capn Bob
