Boca Chica - Saltwater Fishing Report
All areas continue to fish very well. Inshore, offshore both excellent.
OFFSHORE:
Tuna, marlin, and a few sails at Isla Montuosa.
Lots of bait. Popping and deep butterfly jigging taking many very hefty yellowfin.
Wahoo around the island spotty, with some reported taken. Bite will steadily improve towards August.
Isla Ladrones had very good mullet snapper bite. Fish were suspended from top to bottom in 97 ft. Fish slashing bait on surface pin-pointed the bite location. bonito chunks free -lined with a big circle hook imbedded was the answer. Jigging also working. No marlin, but did see a big one slash bonito on surface .
Inshore.
Corvina and snapper fishing very well in the Rio Chiriqui estuary, and out to Boca Brava.
Live sardines , as always, working great. Had 2 nice corvina way inside of Isla Muerto on new GULP bait, shrimp.
Trolled for roosters around Playa Grande off Isla Parida , no takers, then cast poppers and rapala´s at RonCon and took one big jack crevalle and lost a good cubera. The lure too.
While catching live bait, took some really nice manchado snappers for the frying pan. 3-5 on sabiki rigs at a time! The HEAVY-lined sabiki´s.
Boca Chica Fishing Forecast:
WAHOO will get hot SOON !
Plenty of shots at tuna and marlin.
Deep numbers off Isla Secas will hold big wahoo and a mix of snapper, grouper , and amberjack.
Use blue runner for these deep holders.
Inshore ALWAYS great.
Estuary will continue with nice catches of corvina...and snook, if you find them.
