Boca Chica - Saltwater Fishing Report

Golfito, Costa Rica
Weather has begun to straighten out after"Stan" and all his badness paid us a visit. Inshore is still the 'answer' here. Lots of big roosters prowling outside the surf and around our deep waypoints. We had amberjack to 35 lbs., roosters to 50 lbs., and some mixed snapper last Teusday on a one-day trip.
Also was hooked up on a live blue runner to what we can only surmise was a "Goliath' grouper. Two hours bent over the rail, on a fifty 2-spd., and finally the pressure on the line going in and out the tip caused a failure. Still tunas and black marlin outside. not too bad, sea-wise , but we have to pick our days. Clients can still make a trip out of a week tour and just watch the weather. When it's bad, we hit the inshore stuff. Dorado making more of a showing . Should be a good population come Dec and beyond, if the long-liners don't wipe them out. River is muddy and debris-filled, with only a few snook to be had out at the river mouth. Send e-mail to me at [email protected] for prices and charter date availability for the upcoming season. Anytime from DEC. to MAY is GREAT !!! Capn' Bob

Latest report has the waters off Isla Parida and Isla Ladrones FULL of wahoo and good sized DORADO. Now THERE'S two good reasons to go fishin'!!! Plenty of action, and some nice fillets for the table.
Black marlin will remain good from Ladrones to Punta Burica.
We're experimenting with some new snook and roosterfish spots between Boca San Pedro and Burica. A local friend of mine is trading me some "secret" locations in return for some fishing time on a BIG boat. When you see some of the little pangas these boys venture out in, anything is BIG!
We'll have the "Parida Island House" ready to go again this season. Last year it was a big hit . Log onto www.islaparida.com for a look. Great for the family, and also puts 'hard-core' anglers out fishing earlier , and out later, than everyone else.
Holiday time is a great time to come down and spend Christmas out fishing with the family. Wahoo will remain until the sun gets the water warmed up. As long as there is a bit of rain, it will stay cool. Not too many sails around, but we had 3 up , one hooked and released, about 8 miles outside(west) of Ladrones. Nice surprise. Good Fishing, Capn' Bob
