Boca Chica - Saltwater Fishing Report

Costa Rica-Golfito Offshore
Italian fishing line manufacturer, Gian Ziliani, and wife Pia are enjoying a productive, relaxing fishing vacation with us here in Playa Zancudo.
Gian has logged PACIFIC SAILFISH, BIGEYE and YELLOWFIN TUNAS, DORADO, and yesterday cast flies next to an offshore floating log to take 15 tripletail(berrogate). He released all but 4 for the tables of capt.s Jose and Ricardo Guerra, and a couple for us.
When Jose maneuvered the lines close to the log on a troll-by, TWO BLACK MARLIN in the 250-300 class made a rush at the rigger baits , slashed at them, came in and whacked the big flat line lures, and then left, forgetting to hook themselves in the mayhem.
Numerous passes in hopes of another strike, and soaking a live blue runner/circle hook rig around the log wouldn't bring them back up.
That's life in paradise. Some things are meant not to be.
Today Gian is inshore , looking for some photo ops. with ROOSTEFISH, SNAPPER, AFRICAN POMPANO, CORVINA, AND SNOOK.
Weather remains perfect, with calm seas and sun followed by nightly showers that keep things cool while sleeping.
More later. GOOD FISHING ! Capn Bob
PANAMA -OFFSHORE
The area around PUNTA BURICA continues to produce action on BLACK MARLIN AND WAHOO on the "high spot" 10 miles off the point. Lots of flying fish, bonito, and skipjack tuna around are keeping the marlin in place.
Early morning , and last thing in the afternoon before we head back, we've been fast-trolling yo-zuri bonito subsurface lures , jet head plastics, and big rapala's around the sea mount , picking up a few WAHOO, dorado(mostly chickens right now), and some small bigeye and yellowfin TUNA. Great fun.
River is quite dirty from rain and lots of debris coming down, making snook fishing there a pain. So we've moved off the beach, anchoring out and letting back until we're just outside the breaking surf, then pitching live sardines with slip sinkers over the waves toward shore. Great way to pick up big snook and some trophy red and cubera SNAPPER.
More Later.
GOOD FISHING !! Capn Bob
