Boca Chica - Saltwater Fishing Report

Punta Burica Offshore
We fished a group of New Mexico anglers who wanted to get up close and personal with a big marlin. fishing from our Playa Zancudo, C.R. lodge, we concentrated on the "high spot' off Burica and were rewarded with four nice marlin up(when is a marlin NOT a 'nice' one??) and finally one of a double strike hooked up on a mullet/circle hook rig with a black/red squid skirt up front.
After a two hour battle, the estimated 300 lb. beauty was released unharmed. A Nice Blue.
We hoped to stir up some WAHOO over this seamount, but instead had to settle for almost non-stop action on medium size YELLOWFIN TUNA.
Had three SAILFISH releases over the three day tour, which was a welcome, although unexpected treat. All nice fish in the 110-130 lb. class.
Also were able to find and boat two respectable dinner dorado of approx. 20 lbs. each.
A fun group of people , plenty of fish, and their dream MARLIN !! Que Mas ??!!
Things are shaping up for a very busy September for BLACK MARLIN in our area in PANAMA, and if the blues stick around and mix with the migrating BLACKS, we'll have plenty of action in Costa Rica as well.
