Panama - Boca Chica

Boca Chica - Saltwater Fishing Report

PANAMA--ISLA'S LADRONES-SECAS-MONTUOSA

Marlin and dorado, what a beautiful sound !!

Ladrones and Montuosa islands have lots of blacks around, feeding on the many small"chicken" dorado that are very plentiful in those areas.

Not too many sails as yet, but they are there sporadically, and just when you don't expect them.

Wahoo are still being taken around Secas on live blue runners and fast-trolled jet heads and Marauder-type diving lures. We use a lot of the MANN'S deep diving plugs, and they catch everything from wahoo to jacks to cuberas. Rapala's always work here.

I have a friend fishing pangas out of Playa Venado who took a 430 lb. BLACK marlin on a CD-18 RAPALA on 80# gear. The next day he tried a "black Hole/ horse ballyhoo troll in the same area, and had an even bigger (est. close to 600) on the line until it broke the rod and the line chafed on the side of the boat for just a second !!

Yellowfin tuna between Ladrones and Montuosa in the early morning and later in the pm. Don't ask your captain to stay if the weather starts to break down in the afternoon. Rather , head for the cantina and leave em' for the next day. If the weather holds so you don't get beat up heading back in to Boca Chica, enjoy the bite.

Hannibal Bank giving up it's usual impressive mixed bag.

Remember to bring some deep-jigging gear with you. It's amazing what you can pull out of that area on iron!!! Pink/Silver butterfly jigs work great!

Good Fishing ! Wherever You Are !! Capn Bob

INSHORE- Parida- Secas Islands

Wahoo, jack crevalle, roosterfish, and cubera snapper. Some respectable grouper taken, but the commercial boyz don't give them much of a break.

Some really hefty amberjack outside SECAS, in 95 ft.

Live blue runner or a bonito chunk will take them on the way down. Watch for your line to go slack earlier than you think. Mark the bottom the first time with a magic marker or a piece of dental floss/rigging thread.

Popping for roosters very productive around the many , many rocks and reefs in the Secas Chain. What a beautiful place to catch fish !!
