Boca Chica - Saltwater Fishing Report

Panama Offshore
We have been attacking Panama waters from the Costa Rican side lately, with fine results.
Actually, we try to stay somewhat close to the border, but it's like the U.K- Iran mess, our word against theirs.
Anyway, BIG, and I mean BiG, yellowfin tuna have started to arrive in good numbers, and we've found them right on the frontier, 10 to 15 miles off PUNTA BURICA.
Last week, a 308 pound hog was taken in that area.
Sails are still around, actually much more agressive when they do come up, than they have been.
We've been getting some good hard rains at night , and all that cool water finally makes it down the rivers into our fishing areas. The baitfish love it !! And that in turn, makes everybody happy.
Capt. Pete LaFleche, on the "CORK", had a small marlin on for a bit day before yesterday, but the hook pulled, for whatever reason. Might have been bill-looped. He came in with a very nice dorado, so his crew was happy. Said he had multiple sails up, but no hook-ups. Pete uses only plastics...no bait, live or dead.
Inshore, clients had very good luck on yellowtail snapper(pargo amarillo) and a nice CUBERA of 30 lbs. was also taken. Throw in the bluefin trevally, jack crevalles, and a nice African pompano, and everybody had fun.
Soon the Corvina will be in in the estero just inside BOCA Chica, and we'll put some time in on those great fighting, and eating fish.
Black marlin and big tunas should begin to show with more regularity around Isla Ladrones and over to Isla Montuosa, and they'll be here till December.
August will be your best bet for a world-class marlin, blue or black. give me a call and we'll get you set up !
GOOD FISHING, WHEREVER YOU ARE !!!!
