Boca Chica - Saltwater Fishing Report

Panama- Isla Ladrones to Punta Burica
Had a WAHOO trip Monday last, and trolled rapala's and 'marauder' type lures outside Isla Parida, specifically over and around Roca Bandera and out to Isla Ladrones.
12 Hoo's to 46 lbs, with one that must have been close to 100 lbs. tearing free right next to the boat.
Split ring failure on one of the rapalas. We usually replace them with stronger ones, but these were new out of the box and we figured (wrong) that we'd get away with it. Oh, well.Another lesson learned the hard way.
Tried for some marlin with bridled bonitos, and had one knock down that about slashed the bait in two, but the sea monster didn't return to finish the meal.
Had enough action with the hoo's, 4 football tunas, a 3 small dorado's, so everybody was happy. Beat the rain back into Boca Chica, and the tourists had some nice eating fish for they and their friends.
There ARE a lot of marlin around however, and this is a great time to come down and try for one.
Good numbers of SAILFISH continue to bite well over towards Punta Burica. Lots of bait over there.
Seeing a lot of humpback whales that way too, so there must be plenty of squid down deep.
Stay in touch.

COSTA RICA -GOLFITO OUTSIDE
Marlin continue to hold outside, feding on the droves of bait available, and the small dorados.
One boat out of Zancudo had 8 marlin raised, with 4 hooked and released , the other day. That's world-class billfishing by anyone's standards.
SAILFISH have moved in with a vengeance. Better than February "high season".
Small tunas, with some big ones coming up early in the day, are within easy reach , only out from 12 to 20 miles. Trash lines and floating logs have a lot of mixed bag opportunities down below.
