San Juan - Saltwater Fishing Report

Howdy, Captain Till here with a quick report from beautiful San Juan, Puerto Rico. Recent rains and thunderstorms have dumped a lot of fresh water into the San Juan Estuary, what this means is a tremendous pick up in Tarpon and Snook activity!
The draining of the excess rain waters make for an increase in tidal flows, which logically move more water volume, this extra volume causes small fish and other bait to move, and when bait moves, the predators are usually not too far behind, taking advantage of this un-natural behavior to gorge themselves!
The fly fishing specially has been very good, with many tarpon, some in excess of 80 pounds being caught and released in the mangroves, great fun and a heck of a challenge, to get a tarpon this size out of the mangrove roots.
The favored live baits at this moment are Mojarras, Scaled Sardines and jumbo Bay Anchovies, if you can locate them, all of which are fished on circle hooks for fish conservation and on select spinning tackle ranging from 8 to 20 pound, depending on the size of the fish being targetted.
I want to remind potential customers that we have a brand new 2008, 19 foot Bay Bolt by Hydra Sports, undeniably one of the finest light tackle and fly fishing boats on the water, fully rigged for charters, it boasts a 150 horsepower Yamaha, 4 Stroke engine.
We have openings for the coming months, so you can contact me directly at my cell phone 787-448-6665 or by email either at [email protected] or [email protected] please book with plenty of time, so you can ensure your choice of date(s).

God Bless the victims of Gustav and Ike, may you recover quickly!
