Christmas Eve Redfish in Broad River

Capt. Rick Percy
December 26, 2011
Beaufort - Saltwater Fishing Report

Have been fishing the Broad and Beaufort River areas the last couple of weeks. The water temps remain in the mid fifties, and it has started to clear up as the water temps continue to slowly fall. Had a real nice trip Christmas Eve and put a half dozen nice Redfish in the boat. All fish were released, as we generally keep very few fish. The trout bite remains sporadic, but did manage to catch 10 one trip on Norton Sand Eels. These are excellent soft baits to try if you haven't used them. The Redfish are biting on mud minnows under popping corks. I try to get my hands on the biggest minnows I can. These bigger baits seem to draw more bites.

Beaufort Fishing Forecast:

Redfish should continue to be excellent in the Port Royal and St Helena sound areas.
