Lowcountry bite is on

Capt. Rick Percy
May 17, 2016
Beaufort - Saltwater Fishing Report

As we find ourselves in the middle of May, lots of things are happening in the South Carolina Lowcountry. Our waters have warmed up and many of the pelagics have worked their way north, filling up our waters with a lot of different opportunities for tight lines. Our number one attraction in May is Cobia. Due to reduced populations, DNR has closed the season for Cobia inside state waters for the month of May. We can still catch and release, which will let the big spawners do their thing. Caught a nice one on a trip last week. Our trout bite has been the best springtime bite I have seen in years. Picked up 17 on a trip Sunday. And of course the Redfish are year around targets. May is a great month to fish here.
