Pelagics arrive in Port Royal Sound

Capt. Rick Percy
June 22, 2013
Beaufort - Saltwater Fishing Report

Had a report from Capt Bryan Freeman this week that the big Jack Crevalle had arrived in the Broad River this week. Capt Bryan put a client on a beautiful fish of about 30 pounds on very light tackle, and the fight lasted over an hour. These are awesome fighting fish, and Capt Bryan saw them busting bait schools. These fish will take about anything you throw at them that resembles a baitfish, and sometimes they take them for good! The tarpon bite will kick in really well shortly. And the big Spanish Mackerel will be on the sandbars in the Sound. Lots of fun to chum and throw a fly or artificals to them.
