Port Royal Cobia Run Strengthens

Capt. Rick Percy
May 10, 2012
Beaufort - Saltwater Fishing Report

We just passed our full moon phase for May, and the big tides that are generated on the full moon. The Cobia that have been staging on wrecks offshore are riding those tides into the Sound. Fishing has been getting better all week, with numerous fish being seen and caught. Talked to several anglers who have been successful catching fish on the fly, spinning, and bait. All seem to be producing. Live bait choices include herring, locally called greenies, mullet, and whiting and eels. Menhaden are a popular choice if available. The Redfish bite has gotten better, and I took a real nice Speckled Trout yesterday on a topwater. All in all our fishing has been fairly decent, and should continue to improve over the next month.

Beaufort Fishing Forecast:

Excellent for Cobia in Port Royal Sound, Broad River, and St Helena Sound. Redfish, Sea Trout, and Flounder reports are all on the increase.
