Redfish Bite steady in the Beaufort area

Capt. Rick Percy
August 11, 2011
Beaufort - Saltwater Fishing Report

Had a nice trip today with Roger Owens and son Braden, and Ray Scott and son Preston. The boys are 9 and 10, had never fished saltwater, and were open to any pulls they could get. We fished live shrimp under popping corks for the most part, and they put 8 nice slot redfish in the boat, along with one 29' fish that pushed 9 lbs. They also got an opportunity to catch some big Bonnethead Sharks on light tackle and had a blast doing that. Even in the extreme heat we've been having we are still able to find some willing Redfish.

Beaufort Fishing Forecast:

Redfishing will continue to improve as the bait starts to leave the estuary and the water cools off a few degrees.

Target Species:

Redfish
