Beaufort - Saltwater Fishing Report

As we move out of March shortly, hopefully our weather will improve the next couple of weeks. Our trips have been restricted due to winds and rain much of the month, but the Redfish bite has been good on the good days. Live mud minnows under popping corks have worked the best on higher water, while jerkbaits continue to take fish on the flats during periods of lower water. The whole fishing world in the low country is waiting on that magic 68 degree water temperature, that signals the arrival and presence of Cobia. Normally that occurs sometime the second or third week of April, so it is right around the corner. And with good weather days trips to the nearshore wrecks will be in order, as the weakfish, black drum, big red drum, flounder, and black sea bass will be on the bite. I love to run slick seas out to my beach numbers, as they seldom let me down.
